Purpose

As a family, we decided after the untimely death and loss of James Stephen Cooper that it was important to start a ministry. It would be one of consolation and comfort to those experiencing the shock and grief of a family member or friend left behind in the aftermath of suicide.  We hope that this website will be a comfort to those hurting and dealing with the flood of feelings, emotions  and all the stages of grief that are encountered.  We want you to know that we understand this hurt and feel the pain of anyone going through the myriad of issues and emotions you face.  Unfortunately, suicide is becoming all too common in our world as it affects more and more of us in some way each day.  We will share our journey with you with our posts and blogs.   We will also post links to resources that we have found helpful.

As a family of Christian faith, we will offer our perspective and insights that have buoyed us through the early difficult days and beyond.  We will attempt to share the foundations of our faith and how they have helped us day by day to face the ongoing pain and extreme loss of our loved one.

We pray for each of you who visit this site and hope that you will find some measure of comfort and consolation in your time of grief.  If you do not know Jesus as your personal Savior, we pray that what you find here may help you find your way to Him and you too can find peace, solace and His grace. We assure you that you will not have to endure this time of tribulation alone, as we were never meant to. On Christ alone, we have  a firm cornerstone.

One final thought about the purpose of this site, saving the most important for last.  In Stephen’s final letter to our family penned just a few short hours before he took his life, he made this request to us that we will share with you in his own words, “I pray that you will witness to many people, because I could never even bring myself to share the gospel with even one single soul.” Stephen may not have shared the gospel of Christ to anyone in his short twenty-five years of his life, but in keeping with his request, he will speak loudly from the grave through this website as we honor his memory to proclaim the Gospel of Christ!  The acceptance of this same Gospel message that Stephen accepted as a bright-eyed boy has now given him peace and rest with his Lord and Savior.

If you do not know Jesus as your personal Savior, we pray that what you find here may help you find your way to Him and you too can find peace, solace and His grace.
